Next Step – Orchestration

When it comes to orchestration of digital services it seems we really don’t know what we don’t know. At the Layer 123 SDN World Congress in The Hague recently, there were numerous vendors, standards bearers and operators sharing insights and thought leadership. But even after hearing from all of those smart people, I still feel like I’m staring into a pot of simmering beef stew when I should be seeing nice straight rows of kabobs.

Every diagram and conceptual view contained the same ingredients, but was somehow different. While the parts seem to be evolving and improving, the structure and organization seems even more muddled. While we all seem to agree that NFV and SDN will become vital and important parts of our business and infrastructure going forward, we’re still not sure how to put it all together.

And ultimately that’s what we need to do.

Earlier this year, ICT Intuition was considering surveying operators to understand their opinions on orchestration. However, after a few conversations it became clear that we could better serve the industry by collecting and compiling current thinking around digital services orchestration and delivering it as a book that enables operators and others to get a sense of work that is underway and progress that is being made to help each continue to form their opinions.

We will be collecting sponsored content through the end of the year and publishing “Digital Orchestration: A Collaborative Composition” in mid-February. To learn more, include your thought leadership or just thoughts in the book, contact us directly at info@ictintuition.com.
